FAQs

What is a Hampton style home?

A Hampton style home is inspired by the upscale beach houses of the Hamptons region in New York. Characterised by its coastal, relaxed feel, it combines traditional architecture with modern elements. Think large, airy spaces, neutral colour palettes, and natural timber. At Smart Homes, we craft Hampton style homes that not only capture this essence but also tailor it to resonate with the Australian lifestyle, ensuring each home is a unique reflection of its owner's dreams.

Is Hamptons style still popular?

Absolutely! The Hamptons style has remained timeless and continues to be a favourite among homeowners. Its blend of elegance, comfort, and functionality resonates with many. At Smart Homes, we've seen a consistent demand for Hamptons style homes, as they offer a perfect blend of classic charm and modern living, tailored for the Australian environment.

What is the difference between modern and Hampton style?

While both styles prioritise clean lines and functional design, modern homes often lean towards minimalism with stark contrasts, large glass windows, and industrial elements. On the other hand, Hampton style homes exude a traditional, warm, coastal vibe with a focus on natural materials like timber, a neutral palette, and intricate detailing. At Smart Homes, we pride ourselves on our ability to capture the essence of both styles, offering homeowners a range of options to suit their personal tastes.

What colours are Hampton style?

Hampton style homes typically feature a soft and neutral colour palette. Whites, creams, beiges, and soft greys are predominant, often complemented by blues and greens to evoke the coastal feel. Natural timber also plays a significant role, adding warmth and character. At Smart Homes, we guide our clients in choosing the perfect Hampton colour palette that not only reflects the style but also complements the Australian landscape.

What is Australian coastal style?

Australian coastal style is inspired by our country's stunning beaches and relaxed coastal living. It emphasises open spaces, natural light, and materials like timber and stone. The colour palette is often soft, drawing from the hues of the ocean, sand, and native vegetation. While it shares similarities with the Hamptons style, the Australian coastal style is more laid-back and resonates deeply with our local environment. At Smart Homes, we blend this style seamlessly with our designs, ensuring each home feels like a serene coastal retreat, no matter its location.

About Balnarring, VIC

Balnarring is a town in the south-eastern extremity of the Mornington Peninsula in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, approximately 63 km (39 mi) south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Shire of Mornington Peninsula local government area. Balnarring recorded a population of 2,371 at the 2021 census.Balnarring is located about halfway between Hastings and Flinders. == History == Early reports of the area suggested the region was "thick with honeysuckle and sheoak", and that the area from Somers to Point Leo contained "good soil, good grass, and open forest timbered with Gums wattle and She Oak trees". Early settlers were involved in wattle bark stripping and cutting piles and sleepers for shipping to Melbourne via Shoreham to the southwest. From 1857 onwards, the Government enacted a series of Land Acts designed to open the land, dividing it into small blocks and hoping to create a living for small-scale farmers. The Parish of Balnarring was surveyed in 1865, as part of the "Agricultural Area of Mount McMahon". Most of the selectors were orchardists although dairymen also took an interest in the area. In the 1920s, the construction of cool stores at Red Hill increased their ability to trade their produce with the outside world. In 1866, a post office opened, and a school shortly afterwards, and in 1869, an inn and store called the Tower Hotel operated by the Van Suylens on their property, "Warrawee", was established to serve local residents on the Frankston-Flinders road. This and the Sandy Point Road had already been established as tracks, as indicated on an 1874 map of the area. An 1891 map shows a blacksmith's store where the panel beaters operation presently stands at this intersection.
